The MSI Wind market price is $379, is one of the best netbook bargains around. Maybe because this 10 inches net comes with Intel’s newest Atom n280 processor, it provides an improvement to its performance. The U123 has nine cell battery, that provides more than 8 hours of runtime.
MSI Wind U123 has the same chassis as the U120. They say that the U123′s design is for proffesionals like businessmen only, but the HP Mini 2140′s aluminum chassis design is appropriate for that market. However, the U123 is thinner than the original U100 and its rounded edges for a squarer shape with a lines. The glossy navy blue lid, available also in black, gray, red, and white, covers the outside of the netbook and is offset by a black underside and a glossy screen.
The dimensions are 10.2 x 7.1 x 1.3 inches, but the U123′s nine cell battery adds to its dimension and adds a weight in about by 3.2lbs. The keybaord is the same as when you type it springly goes back when typing, also the shift and backspace are very great because it is large for netbook.
The touchpad is kind of small which is 2.0 x 1.7 inches. But, they replaced the mouse button with the silver coloured right left mouse buttons. It has this annoying clicking sound when it’s being pressed.
It has this 10.2 inches screen with LED backlit and a 1024 x 600 pixel display. You can view the webpages very fine without the need to scroll the page down. It also produces bright colors and clear images when watched a series of the Prison Break online.
MSI Wind U123′s has a very good 2 speakers that you can clearly hear the sound of the movie or series from your office that everyone can hear it.
It also has a 1.3 megapixel webcam on top of the lcd screen that displays a clear images when videoconverencing with friends on Skype. It can give some blurn in motion when you are moving, but if has a good ligting and clarity that no one will complain about it.
The webcam has the capabilty to recognize a face so that the users can log in using with their face rather using their passwords. The webcam needs to recognize the face first in 10 seconds.
It has a higher clock speed of 667 Mhz of 1.66 Intel Atom n280 than the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 found on most netbooks.
The Overall performance was pretty good, There is no problem streaming video at full screen or working with applications that are open at the same time.
You can watch with ease with a downloaded high definition 720p video with no pauses. For viewing a video at 720p to a 32 inches Sony Bravia HDTV and the resolution was set to 1366 x 768, it performed very smooth that you could ee the clear ripples for the water and the trees swaying.
You can get the MSI Wind U123 battery in either six or nine cell battery options. The nine cell battery unit lasts for about 8 hours and 14 minutes for the LAPTOP Battery Test. It is about 2 hours and 45 minutes longer than the average 6 celled battery netbooks. It is faster than the Samsung’s N110 for 7:29, HP’s Mini 2140 7:20 and ASUS’s Eee PC 1000HE for about 7:10. These netbooks are six celled batteries, but the HP and Samsung weighs a little less than the MSI WInd U123.
The MSI Wind U123′s market price is $379, it gives good performance for a netbook and last about 8 hours of runtime. It has the similarity configuration of ASUS Eee PC 1000HE $399 and the Samsung’s N110 $469 have a better feel using the touchpads and better keyboards. The MSI Wind gives a complete package for a very decent price.
